Continuing with our series about diabetes mellitus.
In the vast majority of cases “diabetes” and “prediabetes” are really just arbitrary terms applied to the underlying pathologic condition of insulin resistance.
Research has shown that years before evidence of prediabetes and diabetes develops Patients have often been insulin resistant for years if not decades.
We screen for elevated insulin levels for at risk patients and work with them to decrease insulin resistance and hopefully prevent them from developing prediabetes and diabetes.
